The VR Awards brings together top executives and pioneers from across the world every year, rolling out the red carpet award and providing a platform for recognising the very best talent in the immersive industry.

Drinks Reception

The VR Awards 2019, as per tradition, greeted over 300 international delegates dressed in black tie. As they arrived for the evening’s events, guests were treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly and had the opportunity to network before the official opening speeches and the night began.

The VR Awards 2019 ceremony started with an incredible celebration of how far VR has come, and what immersion and XR means to our incredible set of VR Awards judges.

Accenture VR Lifetime Achievement Award

The third annual VR Awards meant a brand new category. Sponsored by Accenture, the Accenture VR Lifetime Achievement Award celebrates an individual with an outstanding contribution to virtual reality, this year, it was awarded to John Carmack.

2019 Dinner Menu

Starter

Creamed parsnip soup, honey & pecorino tortelloni, cumin oil, pickled parsnip, parsnip crisps.

Tomato, aubergine and basil tian, tomato tartare, charred aubergine puree, tomato mousse, aubergine crisp, basil puree. (V)

Main Dish

Game sausage roll, chestnut mash, braised Brussel sprouts, broccoli stalks, toasted chestnut, redcurrant jus.

Vegetarian Main Dish

Butternut fondant, wild mushroom & spring onion fricassee, red lentil dahl, spiced spinach, onion sauce, butternut crisps.

Dessert

Orange and lemon tart, mandarin gel, mandarin sorbet and citrus salad.

Live Entertainment

In 2019, Foxdog took to the stage and put our audience of experts to the test in an interactive robotic comedy set. Throughout the set, attendees worked together to create a cocktail from their seats using mobile controls.

The Award Ceremony

This year saw 13 winners take to the stage to accept their trophies and celebrate industry successes with other finalists. Highlights included the first presentation of the Accenture Lifetime Achievement Award to John Carmack, and the premiere of Doctor Who: Edge of Time.
